HWR cryomodule prototype for RAON heavy-ion accelerator

A superconducting cryomodule for the accelerator is a complex state-of-the-art device consisting of a superconducting RF cavity, related devices, and a cryostat for their operation at cryogenic temperature.

Clean room assembly technology to prevent internal contamination of the cavity and securing stable thermal insulation performance at the cryogenic temperature of 2 K(-271 ℃) are critical.

Also, precise component manufacturing and assembly to ensure the straightness of accelerating particles and magnetic shielding technology are required.

Cryostats for SRILAC cryomodule in RIKEN

Cryostats of cryomodule manufactured by KAT for RIKEN* have satisfied the quality requirements of MHI-MS. It was assembled with precise machining and welding in accordance with the exact dimensional tolerance.

Helium leak and pressure tests were performed according to the Japanese Industrial Standard. The stability at cryogenic temperature was verified by cryogenic thermal shock test.
