Founded in 2004 as a subsidiary of Kiswire Group to develop superconducting wire for KSTAR and ITER project, KAT is dedicated to research and development for superconducting wires and applications. Since then, KAT is actively participating fusion and accelerator R&D projects domestic and international research institutes and universities. In 2016, KAT made a R&D contract with CERN for the development of high Jc Nb3Sn for FCC high field magnet. KAT continues to work on R&D through superconducting products design and research know-how.

KAT has been developing a High Jc Nb3Sn superconducting wire for the FCC project in collaboration with CERN. In 2016, KAT made a R&D contract with CERN for the development of high field magnet for FCC. KAT will continue to work with CERN for high Jc Nb3Sn R&D by the 2nd R&D contact with CERN from 2022.
KAT is actively participating accelerator R&D projects with domestic and international research institutes and universities. In 2017, KAT supplied HWR cryomodule prototype for RAON heavy-ion accelerator. In 2019 manufactured and supplied cryostats of cryomodule for RIKEN SRILAC QWR in Japan. Since 2021, KAT is developing a superconducting cavity and cryomodule in cooperation with Korea University and KEK in Japan.
